Data Policy

1. Overview

TetherClaw ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application that allows users to connect to their own AI agent gateways (OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, and more) remotely. This Data Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app and website at tetherclaw.app.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: Email address (managed by Clerk authentication)
  • Payment information: Subscription and billing data (managed by Stripe or Apple In-App Purchase — we never store card details)
  • API key: Your TetherClaw API key, stored locally on your device in iOS Keychain
  • Chat history: Messages exchanged with your AI agents are stored in our database (Supabase) to enable cross-device history sync and the TetherClaw mobile experience. You control your agents and their data.
  • Agent preferences: Your agent visibility settings and preferences are synced to our servers to persist across sessions.
  • Push notification token: Your device push token is stored to deliver notifications when your agents respond.
  • Subscription status: Your account tier is fetched from our servers to determine feature access.
  • Gateway bridge activity: When you install the TetherClaw gateway bridge (via install script or manual setup), the bridge connects outbound to our relay over an encrypted WebSocket, registers your API key and gateway endpoint with TetherClaw servers, and routes messages and session data between your AI agents and the relay. If Hermes Agent is installed, the bridge automatically registers it as a linked gateway under your API key. The bridge does not transmit local agent configuration files, environment variables, SSH keys, or any data outside of active agent sessions.

3. What We Do Not Collect

  • Your location, contacts, or biometric data
  • Photos or files beyond what you explicitly share with your agents
  • Data stored on your AI agent gateway beyond what is relayed through our service
  • Credit card or payment details (handled entirely by Stripe or Apple)
  • Local agent platform configuration files, environment variables, SSH keys, or credentials stored on your machine
  • Data from your machine that is not part of an active agent session relayed through TetherClaw

3a. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions (iOS)

TetherClaw offers subscription plans purchasable through the Apple App Store via Apple's in-app purchase system.

  • Subscription billing: Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
  • Automatic renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Managing subscriptions: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Payment data: Apple handles all payment processing for in-app purchases. TetherClaw does not receive or store your payment card information for App Store purchases. Your purchase history is managed by Apple and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Refunds: Refund requests for App Store purchases must be submitted to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. TetherClaw does not process refunds for App Store transactions.
  • Free trial: Where offered, free trial periods are available for new subscribers only. Your subscription will begin automatically at the end of the free trial unless cancelled beforehand.

4. Supported AI Platforms

TetherClaw connects to AI agent platforms including OpenClaw and Hermes Agent. Messages routed through our relay may be stored for history sync purposes as described in Section 2. We do not read, analyze, or share the content of your agent conversations.

  • Platform credentials: API keys and connection tokens for third-party platforms are stored locally on your device only and never transmitted to TetherClaw servers
  • No cross-platform data sharing: We do not share your data with any AI platform provider

5. How We Use Your Information

  • To authenticate your account and validate your API key
  • To route your connection through the TetherClaw relay to your gateway
  • To process subscription payments via Stripe
  • To send transactional emails related to your account

6. Data Storage and Security

Your API key is stored locally on your device using iOS Keychain secure storage. Our relay server (hosted on fly.io) routes messages between your device and your AI gateway. Chat history is stored in our database (Supabase, hosted in the US) to enable history sync across devices. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and subject to their security standards.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@tetherclaw.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

TetherClaw is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Data Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use of TetherClaw after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
